These items can easily stain the teeth the first couple of weeks after lightening your teeth as well.  If you do have some of the listed items, please try to brush immediately afterward, or if that is not possible try to drink a glass of water.

Remember that you must not use any over-the-counter coloredtoothpastes or gels for the first 48 hours.  In addition, do not use any colored mouthwash or any daily homecare that involves the use of Chlorihexidine (Peridex)~ please wait 48 hours before continuing the use of this product.

If sensitivity occurs, try chewing sugarless gum to reduce the peroxide levels, take Advil or Tylenol, or whatever you would normally use for a headache and brush with prescription Prevident toothpaste (we distribute for $14) for maximal desensitizing.

Whitened teeth will always be lighter than they were prior to treatment.  How long your results will last is variable and greatly depends on your habits.  Additional ways you can help maintain your sparkling new smile is to avoid staining related habits, use an electric “sonic-action” toothbrush, daily flossing and continuing your regular professional hygiene visits as recommended to keep your smile at its whitest.  If you notice that your teeth are darkening, you may want to enhance your whitening.  We can custom fabricate take-home whitening trays for this purpose.  If you are interested, we would be glad to do this for you at a special price.

Home Care Instructions

CONGRATULATIONS!  You have just experienced a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure.  The next 48 hours are import in enhancing and maximizing your whitening results for a long lasting, bright and healthy smile.

Everyone’s teeth have a protective layer called the acquired pellicle.  This layer contains the surface dental stains and is removed during a dental whitening process.  It takes twelve to twenty-four hours for the barrier to fully develop again.  Anything dark that can stain a white shirt or white tablecloth will stain your teeth.  To maximize the whitening, we ask that for the next 48 hours, you DO NOT consume dark or yellow staining substances such as:

  • All Tobacco Products
  • Red Wine / White Wine
  • Berries of any kind
  • Avoid Colored Lipstick
  • Soft Drinks
  • Potato Chips
  • Red Sauces
  • Coffee / Tea
  • Mustard / Ketchup / Soy Sauce
